Obituary for Ira Lee Walker

Ira Lee Walker was born December 1, 1943 to the late Willie Lee Coes Sr. and Ira Mae Releford Coes in Fernandina Beach, Florida. She graduated from Peck High School and attended the First Missionary Baptist Church.

Ira married Herman H. Walker, a United States Army Service member, and became a devoted spouse, traveling the world. Ira made Jacksonville, Florida her permanent home. She was ordained as a minister in the Church of God Sanctuary of Praise and was an active member of several local organizations. Ira genially loved others and unselfishly gave of herself.

Ira departed this life Wednesday, April 8, 2020 after a bout with cancer. Four brothers preceded her in death: Veotis Coes, Willie L. Coes, John R. Coes, and Ernest L. Coes. She leaves to cherish her memories, a husband of fifty-eight years, Herman H. Walker of Jacksonville, Florida; children: Iretta Roberts of Jacksonville, Florida; Herman H. Jr. (Dr. Joyce) Walker of Spring Lake, North Carolina; and Kenneth A. (Shirley) Walker of Jacksonville, Florida; brother, Reverend Leonard C. Coes of Cedartown, Georgia; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and sorrowing friends.

The funeral service for Ira Lee Walker will be held 11:00 am Saturday, April 18th, 2020 at the Bosque Bello Cemetery 1320 N. 14th Street FERNANDINA BEACH, FL 32034. The visitation will be 5:00 pm 7:00 pm , Friday, April 17th, 2020 at the Funerals by T.S. Warden 4315 North Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. Interment in Bosque Bello Cemetery.
