Obituary for Jacquelyn Bouknight

Jacquelyn Bouknight was born in New York on September 20, 1951 to her parents, Elise Mungins and Charles Miles. She confessed Christ at an early age and attended Jesus Only Apostolic Faith. She later met and married Leroy Bouknight in Jacksonville, Florida. From this union, one daughter, Sabrina Bouknight, was born.

Jacquelyn was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, David DeCosta and Earl Walker.

Jacquelyn leaves to mourn her passing: daughter, Sabrina Bouknight; grandson, Harold Hall; granddaughter, Iman Clark; great-grandchildren, Brandon Marrs and Aubrielle Smith; sisters, Linda Anderson, Rosa DeCosta, and Sharon Setzler; brothers, Hosea DeCosta (Johnnie Mae), Carlton DeCosta, Paul Miles, and John DeCosta; and a host of cousins and friends.

We have lost a loving mother, a caring sister, a great grandmother, an awesome great-grandmother, a good friend, and an example of how to be genuine in life. Jackie didn’t invent anything about herself. She was direct, observant, and sometimes cranky. LOL, but most of all, she was loving and loyal.

She was an example to those of us who are struggling to truly be ourselves and live in our skin and leave this often harsh world a lil’ bit better than we found it.

In all her years, at one time or another, she encouraged or enraged all of us. In a lot of ways she nurtured and defended us and our existence, by keeping it real through thick and thin.

Isiah 41:10 says, Do not fear for I am with you, do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you, I will uphold you with my righteous hand.

May you find strength in knowing that Jackie has gone to a better place and that her living has not been in vain
