Obituary for James Otts Baker

James Otis Baker, aka “Pick”, was born on January 15, 1950 to the late Jimmie and Ruth Brown in Sandersville, Ga. James was educated in the Georgia school system and later moved to Sebring, FL with his family.

James joined the United States Army on August 12, 1969 and served a portion of his tour in Germany. He received an Honorable Discharge on July 20, 1971.

James had strong faith in the Lord and was a member of Northside Church of Christ in Jacksonville.

James cherished being a faithful husband devoted and dedicated to his late wife Debbie.

He was a hard worker and had a long work history with other companies before retiring from Georgia Pacific. He was well loved by his family and friends and well respected by those who knew him.

He was an all around “Mr. Fix It” and an avid sports fan. He loved fishing and playing golf, football, baseball and softball.

He was called home to be with the Lord on February 24, 2021.

James leaves to cherish his precious memories two sons, James Jr., Sebring, FL, and Brian, Winter Haven, FL, two sisters Rosa Nicholson, Avon Park, FL, and Annie Brown, Irvington, NJ. He also leaves to cherish his memories twenty seven nieces and nephews, seven grandchildren, in-laws, a host of cousins and his special grand baby, Miss Laureen James, Winter Haven, FL.

The family and friends thank God for being honored to be in his life for so many years.

Sleep on, James, take your rest. We love you, but God loves you best!
