Obituary for James Holloway III

James Holloway, III was born on September 23, 1951 to James Holloway, Jr. and Jewel Tunsill Holloway.

He was educated in the Duval County Public Schools. In his formative years, he was a Boy Scout and named Spelling Bee Champion. He graduated from William M. Raines, High School where he played football and was on the Swim Team and a proud member of the Class of 1969. He furthered his studies at Edward Waters College. 

“Jimmy”, as he was affectionately called, served as a Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor at many aquatic facilities around the City.  He was also a Member of Club Baron and a dedicated Steward at St. Paul A.M.E. Church. 

Mr. Holloway worked in several capacities throughout his life, excelled at most and dominated in the Insurance and Automotive industries. His crown jewel for more than 25 years was as owner of Holloway Motors and Jewel Autos. 

He leaves to cherish his memory: His loving wife, Teresa Holloway; dutiful daughter, LaShonda Jewell Holloway; sons in his image, James IV (Tenetia) and Brian (Janar). The joy of his life was his six grandchildren: James V, Jonathan, Tayla, Mya, Jacob, and Brian Jr.; brothers: Reginald (Vivian), Kevin and Marcello (Jackie) Holloway; sisters: Vallie and Monique Holloway; aunts: Anita Garner, Carlotta McIntosh, Pauline Gray, Edith Freeman, Ellen Smith, Ethel Whitfield, Joann Brantley, and Joyce Andrews; nieces: Jennifer H. Burton, Auvion Berry, Haley and Regina Holloway; nephew: Kevin G. Holloway, Jr.; father-in-law: William H. Brown; longtime friend, Priscilla Jackson; a host of cousins and many sorrowful friends.
