Obituary for James Benjamin "Benjy" Mack

James Benjamin Mack was born on February 24, 1966 to Johnny and Marie Mack. “Benjy”, as he was affectionately known, was raised by his maternal grandparents, Mr. Ludie and Vinie Turner. Benjy attended Nassau County Public Schools and graduated from Fernandina Beach High School, Class of 1984. He joined the United States Army thereafter.

Benjy loved every sport imaginable. He is referred to as our family sports analyst.  His favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys and he could orate the teams franchise history at the drop of a dime.  He fondly cherished his playing days as a Fernandina Beach Fighting Pirate. Benjy’s pride and joy was his son Darias whom he loved with his whole heart.

Benjy transitioned from this life on Friday, April 2, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, maternal grandparents, and sister, Denise Hathcock.

Benjy will be missed by all that loved him, but leaves to cherish his memory: son, Darias Mack; brothers, Michael Mack, Johnathan Mack, Darryl Mack, Devon Mack, Gerald Mack, Terrell Mack and Amelio Mack; sisters, Shelyn Gordon and Loletha Anderson; uncle, Johnny L. Turner; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
