James Ramsey was born on December 9, 1922 to Alex and Mary Ramsey in Eadytown, South Carolina. He was a former Brick and Block Layer who built many homes and buildings in Jacksonville. James retired as a Longshoreman and proud ILA Brotherhood Member for 32 years. If a song could characterize his life, it would be “I Did It My Way”.
James departed this life on Friday, June 23, 2017. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ramsey; two sisters, Martha and Marie; a niece, Ruth.
James is survived by one son, Dennis James Ramsey; sister, Louise Wright; nephews, Joe Burden, Irvin Burden and Alex Burden; close great nephew, Eliphaz M. Holzendorf, Jr. (Honey); close great niece, Pamela D. Williams; close cousins, Hubert (Helen), Jannie, Josephine, Miley, Elaine, Rosa, Lee, Rebecca (Sam) and James (Lucille); and many other nieces and nephews.
