Obituary for James Richo

There comes a time in the course of everyone’s life, when we must bid all a final farewell. Earnestine Richo Watson, better known as “Lady” peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home on April 18, 2014. She was born in Chester, Florida to the late Birdie Richo and Laura Hooper Richo on September 2, 1913. Lady accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and joined the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Chester. There she remained a faithful member until she moved her membership to Third Mt. Zion Baptist Church in O’Neil, FL. We are honored to celebrate Lady’s life today because she made history within our family by living to become 100 years old. What a blessing!

Lady was a loving wife to the late Frank Watson and continued that type of relationship until his death. Later, her house became the house by the side of the road where friends and family would often stop by to chat. She possessed an uncanny sense of humor; the young and old thoroughly enjoyed her funny bone. She had special nick names for many of her kinfolks and kept us laughing at her hoe handle philosophy. To many it appeared to be insignificant, but to Lady it was important to wear her pearls/necklaces every day, regardless of her outfit. She was at ease with her pearls as they represented the beauty she had within.

Lady was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, Lula Feagen, Willie Mae Richo and Beatrice Mitchell, Laura Washington; two brothers, James Turner and Sidney Richo. She leaves to mourn one son, James Richo; one sister, Marie Baker; one stepdaughter, Annette Alexander and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and dear neighbors..
