Obituary for James Stewart Jr.

Mr. James Stewart, II was born to Ella Mae (Sykes) Bryant and Hubert Eugene Bryant on May 26, 1946 in Jacksonville, Florida. He attended the public schools in Duval County, graduating from Matthew Gilbert High School, Class of 1965.

James was a merchant for Maritime of Jacksonville for three years and later employed by the Jacksonville Electric Authority (JEA) for 42 years.

On Monday, April 18, 2022, James answered God’s calling from his labor to reward. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ella Mae (Sykes) Bryant and Hubert Eugene Bryant; wife, Elizabeth Betty Stewart; brothers, Moses Bryant, Hubert Lee Bryant, Arthur Sykes, Lonnie Sykes, and Alexander Bryant.

James leaves to cherish his memories: daughter, Elander Stewart Hawkins; son, James Stewart, III; granddaughters, Laticia Stewart and Jasmine Stewart; grandson, Kadarius Stewart; great grandsons, King Stewart and Kaden Stewart; great-granddaughter, Makayli Stewart; siblings, Horace Bryant, Jennie Bowler and Genitha Bryant; brothers-in-law, Major Brown (Mary Elizabeth), Aaron Brown (Shirley), and John W. Brown (Paula); sisters-in-law, Ovie D. Brown (Charlie), Mary V. Brown (Johnnie), Catherine Cobb (L.C.), and Helen Griffith (Eric); numerous nephews, nieces, and a host of sorrowing friends.
