Mr. Jarone Lionel “Butch” Smith, Sr. was born July 10, 1952 in Kingsland, Georgia to his parents, Mr. Horace and Zader D. Smith. He confessed Christ at an early age uniting with the First African Missionary Baptist Church. Jarone attended the local schools in Camden County Public School System graduating from Ralph J. Bunch High School.

Jarone met the love of his life, Vanessa Owens, in Hilliard, Florida in 1967 and they were married in 1971.

Jarone departed this life on Monday, May 23, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Robert, Timothy, Terry, David, and Gregory. He leaves to cherish memories:

Loving wife of 51 years, Vanessa Owens Smith;

Daughters: Monica D. Smith, Tawana Smith-Webb (Kevin Sr), Yolanda Murray (Marcus Sr.), and Rev. Luella Cook (Elton);

Two sons: Jarone Smith, Jr. (Toshiba) and Antonio Smith (Miriam);

Fourteen grandchildren: Kevin Jr. (Quantisa), Brittany (Matthew), Marcus Jr., Makiyah, Markel, EliJah, Emoni, Jakez, Jarion, Autumn, Demond, Monica, Antonio, Allison; six great-grandchildren: Ky’Moni, Khari, Aubrey, Maliyah, King, and Kai “Bear”;

Brothers: Kenneth Smith Sr (Peggy), Walter Smith Sr (Cinda), and Daniel Smith Sr (Essie);

Sisters: Equilla Smith-Jackson (Joseph) and Katherine Smith-Blake;

Brother-in-law: Leroy Owens Jr.;

Sister-in-law: Perri Lee Owens;

Special Friends: Lacy Anders, Michael Campbell, and Rita Mitchell;

12 Godchildren, many fostered children, and a host of other relatives and friends.
