Obituary for Jerome Perry Blackshear

Jerome Perry Blackshear was born on February 28, 1963 to his maternal father, (Raymond Parrish, Sr.) Calvin Philpot Sr. and Barbara J. Muhammad in Jacksonville, Florida. He received his education from William M. Raines High School, Class of 1982. He excelled in several athletic programs especially football, track and baseball. Jerome was an awesome swimmer; while in high school he was employed at Moncrief Pool becoming a pool manager saving many lives.

Jerome was an active member of the Bob Hayes Invitational Track Meet. He worked at Walmart, spent time working in maintenance for the City of Jacksonville and worked as a security guard for the Club Caduceus. Jerome was a member of Greater Zion Grove Baptist Church and the Nation of Islam. The highlight of his life happened on January 4, 1994 when he was joined in holy matrimony to Ms. Carol Williams and raised three girls, Jennifer, Jeannette and Alecia; and two boys, Julian and Christopher.

Jerome departed this life Saturday, November 24, 2018. He was preceded in death by his maternal father, Raymond Parrish, Sr.; grandfather, Wilbert Fields, Sr.; sister, Yvette Blackshear; brother, Raymond Perry, Jr.; and uncle, Bernard Fields.

Jerome leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Carol Blackshear; 5 children, Jennifer Williams, Jeannette Williams, Aleica Williams, Christopher Greene and Julian Williams; 4 granddaughters, as the oldest of eight Jerome left 6 sisters, Patricia F. Taylor (Charles), Alicia Bishop (David), LaShawn Fields, Sue Perry, Khalilah Muhammad (Sean) and Rasheedah Blackshear-Coote (Boyd); 3 brothers, Calvin Philpot, Jr. (Susan), Irving X Dixon and Elijah Blackshear; 4 uncles, Wilbert (Bubba) Fields, Walter Philpot, Michael Fields and Ronnie “Tank” Fields (Yvonne); 3 aunties, Brenda Fields, Yvonne Davis (Albert) and Yvette Brown (Elliott); sister-in-law, Francis Brashear of Houston, Texas; special niece, Tara Seymore; special friend, Marcella Paige; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral service for Jerome Perry Blackshear will be held 11:00AM Saturday, December 1st, 2018 at the Greater Zion Grove Baptist Church 6317 118th Street. The visitation will be 2 - 7PM , Friday, November 30th, 2018 at the Funerals By T. S. Warden 4315 North Main Street. Interment in Restlawn Cemeteries.
