Obituary for Jessie Wright
Jessie Wright was born February 10, 1948 in Warrington, Florida to the late Rev. Isaac Wright, Sr. and Johnnie Middleton Wright. After graduating from Booker T. Washington High School in Pensacola, Florida, he joined the United States Army in June, 1966 and served three years. Jessie’s tours of duty included the Vietnam War. After leaving the Army, he worked at Armstrong Cork Corporation and AT&T in Pensacola.
Jessie was married to the late Helen Wright. He moved to Jacksonville in 1984 and Bethel Baptist Institutional Church became his church home where he was an Usher. Jessie reported to duty to fellowship with his friends at Mary Singleton Senior Center each day during the week. He was a man who respected and loved all people.
Jessie answered his call for duty in the Heavenly Army of the Lord on Tuesday, December 11, 2018.
Jessie leaves cherished memories and is survived by his beloved daughter, Maritza Woodfaulk (Ira Woodfaulk I); son, Marcus Wright; grandchildren, Ira Woodfaulk II; Markeita Wright, Ryan Johnson and Ariana Dickerson; great-grandchildren, Gregory Moye IV, Aniyah Johnson and Makayla Johnson; three sisters, Julia Lamons (Colonel Albert E. Lamons Sr.), Shirley Watson and Carlond Gray; two brothers, Isaac Wright Jr. and Rev. James Wright (Geraldine Wright); nieces, Michele Wright, Dr. Phenessa Gray, Michele Raiford, Desirae Wright, Janelle Sanderson, Kaisha Wright; nephews, Al Lamons, Jr., Kevin Wright, Dwayne Lamons, Roy Williams, James Brian Wright and Jamin Bruce Wright; other relatives and friends.
The funeral service for Jessie Wright will be held 11AM, Tuesday, December 18th, 2018 at the Bethel Baptist Institutional Church 215 Bethel Baptist Street Jacksonville, FL 32202. The visitation will be 5 - 7PM, Monday, December 17th, 2018 at the Funerals By T. S. Warden 4315 North Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. Interment in Resthaven Cemetery.
