Obituary for Johnnie Wilkerson
Johnnie Lee Wilkerson was born on October 29, 1947 to the late George and Mamie Wilkerson in Jacksonville, Florida. Growing up in somewhat rowdy neighborhoods, Johnnie grew up to be a man, that no one expected him to be. “A man of good morals, and love for his family to the fullest”.
Johnnie attended the public schools here in Duval County, only completing the seventh grade from Northwestern Junior High School. From that point on, he began working odd jobs he would find on his own, or positions assigned to him through Day Labor Employment Services.
Johnnie was a happy go lucky guy who enjoyed life, hanging out with his friends and family every chance he got. The sharing he would do with others showed everyone how loving his heart was. He was so popular with his friends to the point of them continually finding him at our home, or other routine places they knew he would be, just because they would miss being with him.
On June 25, 2019, our Heavenly Father called Johnnie home. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mamie Wilkerson; and one brother, Terry Lynn Wilkerson.
Johnnie leaves to cherish his memories: four sisters, Vera Bell Thomas, Beatrice Delores Norman, Carolynn Janice Wilkerson and Barbara Jean Thompson; a brother-in-law, James Ray Norman; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a special loving family friend, Elinor Wilkerson.
The funeral service for Johnnie Wilkerson will be held 11AM, Saturday, July 6th, 2019 at the North Pearl Street Baptist Church 4003 N Pearl Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. The visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 PM, Friday, July 5th, 2019 at the Funerals By T. S. Warden 4315 North Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. Interment in Restlawn Cemeteries.
