Obituary for Johnny Phillip Anderson

Johnny “Phillip” Anderson was born April 8, 1948 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Cleo W. Anderson and Lewis Richardson. He attended Duval County Public Schools and was a graduate of William M. Raines High School, Class of 1967.

Phillip enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served for four years. He retired from the United States Postal Service, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida with forty years of service.

Phillip enjoyed working on and collecting antique cars and putting together model cars. Phillip was a gardener with a green thumb, he could grow almost anything. His yard was admired by many and was awarded the Best Yard of the Month numerous times. Phillip always had a smile, he loved dancing and listening to Reggae music.

Phillip departed this life Thursday, April 29, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Richardson and Cleo Anderson; grandparents, Chester and Louise Swan; sister, Gloria Nicholson.

Phillip is survived by his wife, Kimbolin Anderson; sons, John Anderson (Christina), Jarrad Anderson and Jeremy Anderson; daughters, Brandi Gilbert (Harry) and Gabrielle Anderson; sisters, Deloris Boston, Leola Williams and Aretha Anderson; brothers, Joe Anderson, JR and Samuel Anderson; grandchildren, Joshua Loring, Cilicia Anderson, John Anderson, JR, Alexis Gilbert, Briana Gilbert, J’Aliyah Anderson and Jai Anderson; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Phillip was a very passionate and loving person. He was helpful, honest, he loved life, his family, people and he appreciated everything that anyone did for him.


The funeral service for Johnny Phillip Anderson will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 11th, 2021 at the Funerals by T.S. Warden - Samuel C. Rogers, Jr. Memorial Chapel, 4315 N Main St Jacksonville, FL 32206. The visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 10th, 2021 at the Funerals by T.S. Warden - Samuel C.
