Josephine Young was born in Jacksonville, Florida, on December 19, 1939 to her parents, the late James and Lorraine Frison. She confessed Christ at an early age uniting with St. Thomas Baptist Church, where she was baptized. Josephine attended the local schools in Duval County.


Josephine later met and married Lester Young, Sr., in Jacksonville, Florida. From this union five children, Lester Young, Cheryl Young, Sylvia Young, Melissa Dicks and Dwaine Iriving was born.

On May 18, 2019, God placed the call for Josephine to take her rest, and she answered the call. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Young, Sr.; son, Lester Young; daughter, Cheryl Young; brother, James Frinson; grandson, Rodricus C. Young and granddaughter, Riketa L. Young.

Josephine leaves to cherish her memories: her loving children, Sylvia L. Young; Melissa Y. Dicks Dwaine and Iriving; sisters, Winnie Moore and Alice Frison; brother, James Frison and John Frison; grandchildren, Lester S. Young III, Juan (Kiristen) Young, Jerone McIntosh, Travis Young, Kevin D. McCray, Tevin D. McCray, Andrea White, Ravin Young, I’Asia Young, Lakiesha McCain and Aj’Ha Jordon; twenty-one great-grandchildren; two goddaughters and a host of other relatives and friends.


The funeral service for Josephine Evelina Young will be held 1:30 pm Saturday, June 1st, 2019 at the Samuel C. Rogers Jr. Memorial Chapel 4315 N. Main Street Jacksonville, Fl 32206. The visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 pm, Friday, May 31st, 2019 at the Funerals By T. S. Warden 4315 North Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. Interment in Jacksonville National Cemetery.
