Joyce Cassandra Nelson-Hill was born in Jacksonville, Florida on February 11, 1948 to her parents, Albert Johnson, Sr. and Bernice Green. She accepted Christ at an early age uniting with Dayspring Baptist Church and she attended the public schools of Duval County and was a graduate of New Stanton Senior High School.

Joyce later met and married Henry (Otis) Hill in Washington, DC in 1997.

Joyce departed this life on Friday, January 13, 2023. She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Johnson; mother, Bernice Green; grandmother, Leomie Stills; son, Benton Johnson; brothers, Albert Johnson Jr and Rodrick Green; sister, Betty Ann Foy; and niece, Harriet Snow.

She leaves to mourn her passing husband, Henry (Otis) Hill; daughter Jacquelin Norris (Samuel); son, Webb Johnson-Bey; daughter, Panisse Johnson; grandchildren, Shawnte Bell (Anthony), Antoine Bruce, Shayna Hilliard, Jocelyn Rollins, Shakeia Hilliard, Chandrika Allen, Chapelle Allen, Miles Johnson-Bey, Lea Davis, Lelia Davis; great grandchildren, Nevaehya Tiller, Triniti Bell, Ja’Maurion Jackson, Diamonnie Tiller, Jason Williams Jr., Anthony Bell Jr., Jae’Seon Williams, Joshua Miles Jr.; sisters, Julia Fountain (Jessie), Anna Forney (Derwin), and Wanda Smith (Thad); brother, Myron Green (Angela); sister-in-law, Rhetta Johnson (Albert); and a host of relatives and friends.
