Karen Smelia Flemming Thompkins (Peaches) was born in Jacksonville, Florida on August 14, 1965, to Verna Campbell and the late Mr. George Wells. She confessed Christ at an early age at Bethel Baptist Institutional Church and received her education at Jean Ribault High School, Class of 1983, and later attended Jones College.
Karen later met and married Ingremar Thompkins on August 11, 2007. She was employed at ABC Fine Wine & Spirits for 19 years and was later employed at Henry F. Kite Elementary.
Karen leaves to mourn her passing: daughter, Aljeanae M.Upperman; grandchild, Semaj KaChelle Danielly; stepdaughter, Lyn; step-granddaughter, Queen; brothers, Vernon Flemming (Dina) of Tampa, Florida, Michael Flemming (Euricka) of Atlanta, Georgia, Joseph Powell of Atlanta, Georgia, and Eric Flemming (Melody) of Jacksonville; sisters, Cynthia White, Gloria Ponder, and Michell Thomas; six godchildren whom she loved dearly; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; best friend from another mother, Vonlisa Perry; and dear friends, Kathy, Aline, Patricia, Lena and Alice.
The funeral service for Karen Smelia Thompkins will be held 10:00 am Saturday, January 2nd, 2021 at the Restlawn Cemeteries South, 3301 Moncrief Road West, Jacksonville, FL 32208. The visitation will be 3:00 - 5:00 p.m., Thursday, December 31st, 2020 at the Funerals by T.S. Warden, 4315 North Main Street, Jacksonville, FL 32206. Interment in Restlawn Cemeteries South.
