Obituary for Kenneth Alexander Walker Sr.

Kenneth Alexander Walker Sr., affectionately known as Gunner, was born to loving parents James and Beatrice Walker on July 21, 1948.

Kenneth was born in Jacksonville, Florida where he attended local public schools of Duval County. Kenneth received his high school diploma from Stanton Vocational Senior High School in 1967 where he played in the marching band, ran track, and played basketball.

After graduating from high school, Kenneth’s first Job was at St. Vincent’s Hospital. Then he began his career installing carpet for Cain and Bultman Carpet Distributor where he was a supervisor. Later he began driving cabs for Yellow Cab Transportation and successfully ran a daycare center with his late wife. After 30 years of service at New Deal Cab Company, Kenneth retired and became self-employed as a painter and skilled handyman.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Brown Walker and leaves to cherish his memory; 11 children: Kenneth Alexander Walker Jr (Patricia), Keith Alexander Walker (preceded in death), Kevin Alexander Walker (Tyra), Keisha Walker Pitts (Jonathan), Tracy Mitchell (Johnnie), Lamont Robinson (Michelle), Hussein Howe, Eric Walker, Kendrick Alexander Walker, Kuwanya Brown Woods (Anthony), Jamail Brown, and Jermaine Jones. Parents James and Beatrice (preceded in death); siblings: Charles James Walker (preceded in death), Leila Bullard (Hayward), James Walker Jr. (Ellen) and Melissa Duncan; 37 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and devoted friends.
