Obituary for Lenneon Acy Williams

Mr. Lenneon Acy Williams passed away peacefully from this life on December 18, 2012. He was a loving person who touched the lives of many people. He was born on February 16, 1921 in Oglethorpe, Georgia. Lenneon attended the local schools in Georgia and was drafted in the United States Army on October 12, 1942; he was assigned in an Army Air Force Unit. While serving in the Continent of Africa he earned the rank of Sergeant and was awarded the African Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal during his meritorious service. He had an Honorable Discharge on February 7, 1946. He went back to his hometown where he helped his family on the farm.

Lenneon later married and moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 1953 and worked for Duval Laundry Cleaners as a driver until he was employed with the U.S. Naval Station and then transferred to Mayport Naval Station where he retired in 1968. He never really retired because he continued to serve and be a blessing to others by doing whatever he could for them; we could always count on him. Lenneon met and married Vivian Thomas (Sweet Pea) on August 9, 1996, where he and his partner had a love for fishing.

Lenneon received Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and after moving to Jacksonville he joined Little Zion Hope Primitive Baptist Church in 1953, where he served as a deacon and was a faithful member for almost 60 years, until his health fell. He was under the leadership of (5) Elder’s, O.W. Wilkerson, M.C. Harris, Donald Wilson, Kenneth Taylor, and James Grier. He also fellowshipped with the sister church (Mt. Nebo Primitive Baptist Church) under the leadership of Elder Van R. Sneed.
