Obituary for Leonard Brown

Brother Leonard Brown (75) was born on October 11, 1944 in Greeleyville, South Carolina to the Late Robert and Allean Brown.  His mother Allean passed at an early age and Leonard was raised by the Late Elease Brown Jacobs.

He joined Greater Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church at an early age under the pastorage of the Late Rev. C. W. Whitten.  

Leonard attended Pine Forest Community School and graduated with the Class of 1963. After graduation, he attended college and received an Associate Certification in Electrical.  He worked for Hoyt Stereo, Jacksonville and later for Catlin Interior Designs.  In 1995, he opened his own business, Leonard’s Full Moving Service and it is still open for business.

Leonard’s favorite hobbies were car racing, driving his Jaguar, operating his business, listening to gospel music and artists such as James Brown, Billy Ocean, Marvin Gaye, etc., and spending time with his family!
He was preceded him in death by his parents; brother, Louis Brown; sisters, Dorothy Mae Brown, Mary Davis, and Daisy Bell Brown; grandson, Brett Brown, Jr.; and mother-in-law, Mattie Mae Gordon.

He answered his Master’s call on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at Memorial Hospital, Jacksonville, Florida.

Leonard leaves to cherish his sweet and precious memories: wife, Lillian Gordon Brown, 57 years of marriage; children, Brett Brown, Sr., Bernadette Brown, Jacksonville, and Mona (Eugene, II) Bethea, Delray Beach, FL; grandchildren, Robert Brown, Gregory Brown, Dion Brown, Chanell Brown, Eric Wakeley, Eugene Bethea, and Deonte Bethea; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Johnny (Lula) Brown; sister, Nedora (Larry) Blue; sisters-in-law, Louveda Melton, Christina Thompson, and Ollie Brown; brothers-in-law, Leon Blue, Christopher Gordon, and Jackie Gordon; aunt, Margaret Brown; uncles, Herbert Woods and Dea. LV Wright; nephews, Johnny, Gregory Sr., Patrick, Louis Jr., Adrian, Rodney, Charles Sr., Roy Sr., Anthony, and Joey; nieces, Robin, Shiona, Antoinette, and Danisha; and a host of cousins, friends, and co-workers.

The funeral service for Leonard Brown will be held at 11AM Saturday, September 26th, 2020 at the Greater Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church 45031 Historical Lane, Callahan, FL 32011.
