Leonie Elaine Smith was born in Johns Hall, Montego Bay, Jamaica on April 25th, 1953 to her parents, Amos Haughton and Evelyn Haughton. She attended the church in Portmore Gospel Hall, Jamaica and received her education at Johns Hall Primary All Age and Florida State College at Jacksonville.

Leonie later met and married Neville Earle Smith at 65 Waltham Park Road St. Andrew, Jamaica on December 9th, 1981. From this union two sons were born: Michael and Sheldon.

Leonie departed this life on Friday, August 6, 2022 and was preceded in death by her father, Amos Haughton; mother, Evelyn Haughton; brothers, Clinton and Roy; and sister, Pansy; She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Neville Smith; sons, Michael Smith (Susan) and Sheldon Smith (Yvonne); sisters, Deloris Langshaw, Beverly Haughton, and Jennifer Haughton; brothers, Evert Haughton, Nervan Haughton, Stafford Haughton, and Tony Haughton; brothers-in-law, Josh Smith, William Smith, and Delroy Smith; sisters-in-law, Gwendolyn Smith, Connie Smith, and Doris Gentles; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, others relatives, and friends
