Leroy Banks, affectionately known as Juggie, was born on September 23rd, 1942 to Mr. Shellie Banks, Sr. and Mrs. Louisiana Banks in Duval County, Jacksonville, FL. Leroy was educated in the Duval County Public Schools, graduating from Stanton High School in 1960.
After graduating, Leroy was interested in tile work. In 1961, Juggie started an apprenticeship under Saul McGill. Once perfecting his craft, he went on the merge with his two older brother’s company, B & B Cabinets.
When Leroy wasn’t working, he was enjoying quality time with his grandchildren, Moesha, Dayneshia, Duncan Jr., and Malik. If the grandchildren weren’t around, Leroy would enjoy black and white western shows, the Jacksonville Jaguars, and traveling to surrounding counties for food festivals. On Sunday, Juggie would go to church where we was a deacon at Vision Baptist Church on Lem Turner Road.
On April 26th, surrounded by his beloved, Julia, Leroy answered the call of God and passed from labor on this Earth to his reward in Heaven. He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Shellie Banks, Sr.; mother, Mrs. Louisiana Banks; brother, W. J. Banks; sister, Levater Calvin; and brother, Shelly Banks Jr.
Leroy leaves to live out his legacy that he set forth, and memory: His loving and devoted life partner, Julia Banks; loving grandchildren, Moesha (Lawrence), Dayneshia, Duncan Jr., Malik and Lesha; sister, Mary Bruce and brother, James Banks; great-grandchild, Lamar; his favorite niece, Penny Banks along with a host of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. Leroy was particularly fond of Deek, Victor, Marvin, Pole, Dale, Shawn, and Leonard.
