Obituary for Lessie Elaine Alexander

Dr. Lessie Elaine Alexander, affectionately known as “Laine and Overseer” was born March 30, 1949 in Jacksonville, Florida to Bernice (Scott) Alexander and James Alexander, Sr. She was the oldest of five children. Dr. Alexander was educated in Jacksonville, Florida. She was a 1968 graduate of Stanton Vocational. She continued her education and graduated from Edward Waters College, Cum Laude, with a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1988. She matriculated from Edward Waters College and then going on to receive her Masters in Religious Arts & Christian Education from Jacksonville Theological Seminary in 1997. She received her Doctorate Degree in Religious Philosophy and Christian Psychology, Jacksonville Theological Seminary 1998.

Dr. Alexander worked as an Executive Assistant to Bob Ingram, Help Center. In addition, she was a writer for the Florida Star and published multiple articles. She was a substitute teacher for Duval County Public Schools as well as a Dorm Counselor for the Sulzbacher Center.

Dr. Alexander was born again in 1983, and she was called into ministry in 1988, where she founded Bibleway Faith Center. She formed Bibleway Bible College accredited through Jacksonville Theological Seminary. Later at the leading of the Lord, Bibleway Faith Center became Word of Power Deliverance Center. Which she pastored for 23 years. She later passed the mantel of the pastoral duties to Pastor Valerie and Elder Albert Gay, while continuing to oversee the ministry. She continued to minister, counsel, and encouraged many when called. She had a “REAL” relationship with God. Because Relationship and Prayer was the heart of her messages. Many ministers and ministries were birthed through the tutelage of Dr. Alexander. She traveled near and far teaching, preaching, prophesizing and evangelizing under the powerful anointing of the Lord.

Dr. Alexander departed this life Monday, April 1, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents; her only brother, James Alexander, Jr. and her aunt, Eldora Brown.

Dr. Alexander leaves to cherish her memory and carry her legacy, her only child and loving daughter, Ms. Pamela Alexander Bradford; grandchildren, Xica Bradford, Kenneth Bradford, Jr. (Victoria), James Bradford, and LaShell Bradford; great-grandchildren, Camryn Simpson, Martae Smith, Joshua Smith, Adonis Bradford, Journey Battle, and Kenneth Bradford III, (Tre’); sisters, Mrs. Cynthia J. Shepard (Jerome), Ms. Althea Alexander and Ms. Annette Brown; loving nephews & nieces, Ben Scott, Damane Shepard (Tavinisha), Jamaal Shepard (Lauren), Erin Williams (Shawn) and Jamie Alexander; her devoted spiritual daughter, Armor Bearer of 30 years, Pastor Valerie D. Gay and Elder Albert E. Gay; her bonus children, Ret. Army 1st Sgt. Antonio Murray (Toya) and Ms. Keasha Dean; best friend, Mrs. Patricia Ryles (all of Jacksonville, Florida); and a host of many cousins, other relatives and friends.

The funeral service for Lessie Elaine Alexander will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, April 9th, 2019 at the Samuel C. Rogers Jr. Memorial Chapel 4315 N. Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. The visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 pm, Monday, April 8th, 2019 at the Funerals By T. S. Warden 4315 North Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. Interment in Restlawn Cemeteries South.
