Obituary for Lillie Bell Matthews (Smith)

Mother Lillie Bell Matthews was born November 30, 1934 in Tifton, Georgia to the late Frank Smith, Sr. and Ruby Smith. She attended the local school in Tift County. She later moved to Jacksonville, Florida where she worked until she retired from Cargill after 29 years of faithful service. She gave her life to the Lord and was a member of I Hope Church of God Apostolic. Later becoming a faithful member, she served as Pastor's Aid President at Pentecostal Church of God in Christ with Elder James Tucker, Jr. as the Pastor, as well as, going out feeding the hungry with the late Mother Dollie Tucker.

Mother Matthews was preceded in death by father, Frank Smith Sr.; mother, Ruby Smith; siblings: Frank Smith Jr., Roy Smith, and Mildred Leonard; sons, Tony Hopkins, Lonnie Hopkins, and Bobby Hopkins.

She leaves to cherish her memories daughters, JoAnn Hopkins and Sharon Springfield (Charles); grandchildren: Sabrina Singletary (Cedric), Antwan Hopkins (Kiesha), Bridgette Elliott (Brian), LaQuana Jennings, Ebony Hopkins; siblings: Jimmie Smith (Gloria), Alice Williamson (Lawyer), and Frankie Lee Smith; a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins; a host of friends, and devoted friends, Mother Alice Mimms and Elder Nathaniel Green.
