Lionel Barlow Buckner was born to the late Roosevelt Buckner Sr. and Ellanora Buckner on March 16, 1962. He attended the local schools in Jacksonville, Florida and graduated from William M. Raines High School, Class of 1979. He also attended Jones Business College. Lionel confessed Christ at an early age and attended the Northside Church of God in Christ. He later met Mary Christian in 1988, and they were married on New Year’s Eve in 1991.

Lionel departed this life on March 30, 2021, and was preceded in death by his father, Roosevelt Buckner Sr.; mother, Ellanora Buckner; sisters, Lottie Jones-Blake, and Ramona Buckner-Taylor; mother-in-law, Roberta Christian.

Lionel is survived by his loving wife, Mary Buckner; step daughter, Jessica Christian; grandchildren, Alexis Christian, Christopher Chavis, and Maya Chavis; sisters, Almedia Brooks, Denise Buckner and Pastor Renita McCray; brother, Roosevelt Buckner Jr. and a host of other family members and friends.

The funeral service for Lionel Barlow Buckner will be held 1:30 pm Saturday, April 10th, 2021 at the Samuel C. Rogers Jr. Memorial Chapel 4315 North Main Street Jacksonville, Florida 32209. The visitation will be 12:30pm - 1:30pm, Saturday, April 10th, 2021 at the Samuel C. Rogers Jr. Memorial Chapel, 4315 North Main Street Jacksonville, Florida 32209. Interment in Restlawn Cemetery .
