Obituary for Louis Horace Adams III

Mr. Louis Horace Adams III, BKA “Granddaddy, Gramps, Papa, and Albright”, was born on March 31, 1942. The son of the Eastside Pioneer Family, a Jacksonville native. He was an “AWESOME” and “DEVOTED” grandfather. He was a “GREAT” father-in-law. He made us laugh like no one else can or would. There was never a dull moment within the room. He was an amazing “GO GETTER” for his family and friends. He would give you the “WORLD” if he could. He made everyone feel like his family. You were his daughter, his son, and he had so many grandchildren.

Mr. Louis Horace Adams III attended local schools and Matthew W. Gilbert High School. He then joined the U. S. Army, where he received his GED and a honorable discharge after serving actively eight years and five years in the Army Reserves for a total of 13 years of service. He then went to work for the International Longshoreman Association ILA 1408, as a Header and Ship Former. He retired after 28 years of dedicated service.

Deacon Louis Adams III was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church for 50 years. He served on many ministries: Church and Pastor’s Anniversary, Youth and Children Ministry, Usher Board #1, Vacation Bible School, and Black History. He was the Deacon over District 11 until the Lord called him home. He was the JLA Rams Concession Manager and Park Grandfather. He was an election poll worker for 21 years, and served as 2nd Vice President of the Lincoln Douglas Emancipation Proclamation Association.

Mr. Louis Horace Adams III was preceded in death by his parents, Louis H. Adams, Jr. and Ms. Francis Anderson; son, Rico Lorenzo Horace Adams; granddaughter, Octavia Adams; brother, David Anderson; and sister, Edith Williams.

His family bowed their heads, hearts, and knees in humble submission to the perfect will of God on February 25, 2021, when he was called home by his Heavenly Father. He knew that even if he should die and the entire earth be moved, that God’s word was true and would never change. God was and is faithful.

In addition to his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Pricilla Adams, he leaves behind to await the Second Advent: his children, Joseph (Conswalo) Adams, Willie (Velvet) Corbett, Vertrese (Joseph) Brown, Stephanie (Willie) Nathan, Jr., Deborah Corbett, Gail Adams, Sharon Johnson, Horace Adams, Jr.; sister, Melvina Simpson; sister and brother-in-laws, Eula Brown, Patricia (Pablo) Bradley, Lee (Mary) Whitlock, Earl (Ann) Whitlock, and Odessa Anderson; a host of grands, great-grands, great-great-grands; special friends, Deacon Charles Warren and Mr. Charles Wilson; and his son, Bennie Adams (his Shih-Tzu dog).
