Obituary for Maeretha Reed
Maeretha Reed was born in Gainesville, Florida on November 11, 1939 to her parents Elijah and Margaretta Bradshaw. She confessed Christ at an early age at Simpson Methodist Church. She attended schools in Duval County and received her education at Matthew W. Gilbert High School. She later met and married James Solomon Bryant, Jr. in Jacksonville, Florida on November 23,1954.
From this union was born two sons; James Solomon Bryant, III and Douglas Lamar Bryant; and two daughters, Darlene Jenniefer Bryant-Gaines and Joy Lillian Margaretta Bryant– Harrington.
Maeretha departed this life on December 28, 2019 and was preceded in death by her parents, Elijah and Margaretta Bradshaw; husband, Solomon Reed; and son, James Solomon Bryant.
Maeretha leaves to mourn in her passing children, Darlene Gaines (Sidney), Joy Harrington (Robert), Douglas Bryant, Sr. (Gwendolyn); grandchildren, Douglas Bryant, Jr.( Tiffany), Tamara Shaw (Aaron), Tiffany Qrtiz (Jonathan), Stephanie Reed, James Bryant IV, Cidney Gaines, and Cimantha Gaines. Mrs. Reed was also blessed with 14 great-grandchildren and 5 great great- grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends
