Obituary for Margie Jackson

Sis. Margie affectionately known as “Shote” to family members and some friends, was born on February 21, 1932 in Allendale, South Carolina, the last and 16th child of Ben Brown and Rebecca Bryant Brown. She was a faithful member of Simpson United Methodist Church for over 50 years, where she served on Usher Board #1, in the Choir and United Methodist Women. Margie moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 1951 when she was only 19 years old, completing her education from Old Stanton Sr. High School in 1952. She continued her education in Cosmetology, she was an expert in her field for over 50 years.

Sis Margie was always willing to share her time, lovely smile and sense of humor with others. She would always assist you whenever you needed a helping hand. Margie was also an active and valued member in her cosmetology club the Orange Blossom Cosmetology Association (OBCA).

Sis Margie leaves to cherish her memories: daughter, Elaine Jackson-Parker; nephews, James “Cleo” Brown and Willie James Brown; nieces, Arthuree Deloach and Rebecca Aiken; goddaughters, Mary Dues Smith, Juliet Dixon and Danielle K. Cogdell; caretakers, Arleen Perry, Gloria Thomas and Laura Pate in that order; best friend, Annie P. Witherspoon and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins and sympathizing friends.

The funeral service for Margie Jackson will be held 1PM, Friday, September 27th, 2019 at the Simpson United Methodist Church 225 East Duval Street. The visitation will be 12 - 1PM, Friday, September 27th, 2019 at the Simpson United Methodist Church 225 East Duval. Interment in Restlawn Cemeteries.
