Obituary for Margie Reed

Margie Reed was born on January 2, 1939 in Centenary, South Carolina to Hezekia Williams and Kathrine Montgomery. She confessed Christ at an early age and was a member of Day Spring Baptist Church. Margie later moved her membership to St. Paul Church of Jacksonville, under the leadership of Bishop John E. Guns.

Margie was married to George Reed in 1952, from this union 4 sons and 4 daughters, James, Alfred, Glendale, Calvin, Shebert, Vera, Janice and Cindy were born.

Margie departed from this life October 1, 2020. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Reed; parents, Hezekia Williams and Katherine Montgomery; daughter, Janice Reed; cousin, Carol Rowell.

Margie will be truly missed by her eight children, James Reed, Shebert Wiggins (Cedric), Alfred Reed, Vera Walker, Cindy White, Glendale Reed, Calvin Reed, and Darryl Laster; grandchildren, Temekee Armstrong (Brian), Jerome Reed (Tia), Jamar Reed (Ebony), Tyesha McGee, Latonya Hobbs (Alonzo), Devin Stokes, Bobby White, Yvonne Reed (Chrissy) and Victoria Jackson; great-grandchildren, Ashley Odom, Brittany Fulton, Akua Armstrong, Eric Armstrong, Brian Armstrong II, Austin Reed, Jacob Reed, Todd Cleveland Jr., Jamar Reed, Wesley Vanterpool-Lowe, Larry Hagan, Eboni Daniels, Tieranie Daniels, Kernashi Daniels, Johnathon McClain, Ja’wun McClain, Najionya Drayton, Chloe Young, Lil Devin Stokes, Jr., and Ivy Hagans; sisters and brothers, Gloria Brunson, Hezekia Williams Jr., Veveria Moozy and Pamela Horton; goddaughter, Teresa Sheffield; special cousins, Sandra Davis, Cynthia Davis, Diane Furness and Loran Reaves; best friend, Fostine Randolph; special friends, Sharon Kirkland-Vaughn (Terry), Shirley Turner, Pam Mable, Victoria Mable, Wanda Preston, Alberta Crumbly, Lillian Terry and Linda Walker; a host of great great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.

The funeral service for Margie Reed will be held at 11:00 am Friday, October 9th, 2020 at the Samuel C. Rogers Jr. Memorial Chapel 4315 N. Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. The visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 pm, Thursday, October 8th, 2020 at the Funerals by T.S. Warden 4315 North Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. Interment in Edgewood Cemetery.
