Obituary for Margo Vanessa Gibbs
Margo Vanessa Gibbs was the third child born to the late Jerry and Mary Lena Gibbs on July 12, 1954. Margo, known as “Tootsie” was a lifelong resident of Duval County Florida having grown up on the Westside of Jacksonville. She attended The Arc in Jacksonville, Florida. During her years in Jacksonville, she attended church at The Church 320, formerly known as Fire of the Word Faith Center Church. Later in life, she moved to Charlotte, North Carolina. There, she attended Lifespan Day Program for Adults and University Adult Daycare. She was a faithful attendant of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. “Tootsie” was loving and caring. She enjoyed going to school, going to church and dancing to the tunes of Smokey Robinson.
On Tuesday, January 12, 2021 “Tootsie”, 66, passed away. She leaves a legacy of love and affection for her family and friends to follow. Her parents, Jerry and Mary Lena Gibbs preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving family, brother, Gerald Gibbs (Carolyn); sister and caregiver, Paula Mills; niece, Taheer Williams (Tracy); nephews, Shakeel Mills (Kimberly), Jawad Mills (Latori); aunt, Evelyn Walker (Emmett) and Kareem Mills, a host of great nieces, great nephews and sorrowing friends.
The funeral service for Margo Vanessa Gibbs will be held 1:30 pm Saturday, January 23rd, 2021 at the Samuel C. Rogers Jr. Memorial Chapel, 4315 North Main Street Jacksonville, Florida 32209. The visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 22nd, 2021 at the Samuel C. Rogers Jr. Memorial Chapel, 4315 North Main Street, Jacksonville, Florida 32209. Interment in Borden Cemetery.
