Obituary for Mark Jacob Jones

Mark Jacob Jones was born on September 19, 1963 to Isaiah and Alma Jones in Jacksonville, Florida. He passed away from this earthly life on May 19, 2021 at the Orlando Health Dr. P. Phillips Hospital. He was the youngest of five children. Mark emulated the very essence of a loving son, father, grandfather, and friend.

Mark spent his early years and education in Jacksonville and West Palm Beach, Florida. The later part of his life would lead him to New York City where he would graduate from Springfield High School in Laurelton, New York. He continued his education at Manhattan College. He began his collegiate career aspiring to be accountant one day. Mark completed Pre-law and business courses and received an Associates Degree.

Mark loved sports and would always seek the opportunity to showcase his skills. Playing in New York parks basketball tournaments, Mark would reveal he was a force to be reckoned with. He was fearless on the court and his skills helped the team to dominate the sport.

Mark became a father early in life. As a result of this turn in his life, he pursued self-employed. He offered his skills to those in need of filing taxes, setting up accounting books for different businesses throughout the boroughs of NYC.

Mark loved people and spent days with brothers Kirk and David with outreach projects. He was known to grill and cook food in the Community and beckoned them to eat for free. He was known to help others with monetary donations, brought clothes, and mentor young males in NYC. His charismatic attitude, colorful language, play loud music was infectious throughout the community. His name was known throughout all of NYC.

Mark was preceded in death by his grandparents, father Isaiah, stepfather Rufus Butler, brothers Isaiah and Kirk.

Mark leaves to mourn Denise Zampino (aka “His Queen”) and his children, Shavonne Jones, Marcella Zampino, Mark Jones, Matthew Jones, and Miranda Jones. He also leaves to mourn his loving and devoted mother, Alma Davis Butler; sister, Valerie Ducksworth; brother, David Jones (Kattia); grandchildren, Rashaunti Jackson, Ricardo Deligence, Lamiyah Jones, Liyana Jones, and Nina Zampino; nieces, Aisha Ducksworth, India Ducksworth, Azizi Bailey, Anandi Davis, London Graham, and Kennedy Hester; nephews, Akeem Ducksworth (Chariot), Sincere Faith, Aseer Pollard, David Jones, and Isaiah Jones. Mark also leaves loving cousins: Eddie Jones, Jr., Patricia Gibbs, Gibbs-Phillips, Leroy Gibbs, Bryan Daniels, Ph.D., James Daniels, Gerald Daniels, Von Easton (James), Kevin Fowler, Vanita Foster, Kecia Silas, Archie-Con Grover, Birty Davis III, Wilbur Davis, and Ronnie Davis. Additionally, he leaves extended family (Yvonne Maynor and brothers, Andre Wilson and Curtis Branch) as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Mark will be missed by all for every role he has played in life. His footprint in life has been left in this earthly realm.

The funeral service for Mark Jacob Jones will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 29th, 2021 at the Church of God of Prophecy. 1862 Fouraker Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32221. The visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Friday, May 28th, 2021 at the Funerals by T.S. Warden, 4315 North Main Street, Jacksonville, FL 32206. Interment in Restlawn Cemeteries.
