Obituary for Mary Ellen Knighton

Mary Ellen Knighton was born on June 7, 1943 in Lumpkin, Georgia to the late Allen Knighton and Estella Beall Freeman. She attended the Public Schools of Stewart County Georgia. At an early age, Mary was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Lumpkin, Georgia.

Upon living in Cincinnati, Ohio for many years, she moved to Jacksonville, Florida which became her home and joined West Union Baptist Church in which she served on the Usher Board and was very active in the community until her health started to slowly decline.

Mary departed this life Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at Baptist Medical Center Downtown. She was preceded in death by her father, Allen Knighton; mother, Estella Beall Freeman; brothers, Sammie Lee Beall, James A. Knighton and Willie C. Beall; and sister, Rosia Mae Beall.

Mary leaves to cherish her memory: brother, Coleman Beall, Sr.(Cincinnati, OH); sister, Jessie Beall Hall (Richard) (Lumpkin, GA); sister-in-laws, Jestine Beall (Jacksonville, FL); Dr. Rosia Knighton (Tifton, GA); a very special niece/daughter, T’Nessa Beall (Cincinnati, OH); goddaughter, Monica (James) (Jacksonville, FL); godchildren, Tierra, Deon and Jayden (Jacksonville, FL); very special and devoted cousin, daughter and son, Vanassa (Lorraine) and Barry Sims (Jacksonville, FL); caregiver, Michelle Gross; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
