Obituary for Melvenia Estelle "Mel" Jordan (Spencer)

On November 13, 1951, Melvenia Estelle Spencer was born to Rufus Lee and Viola Murray Spencer in Jacksonville, FL. She was the youngest of two daughters.

Educated in the Duval County School System, she graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1969 after previously attended Matthew W. Gilbert High School. She also attended Edwards College.

Mel retired from J P Morgan Chase Co. after many years of service in the Mortgage Funding Dept. During her tenure at Chase, she completed a course in Mortgage Processing from Alliance School of Mortgage Lending and a course as a Registered Assistant Real Estate Appraiser from Florida Community College in 2005.

On August 1, 2017, she married her longtime friend Alfred Louis Jordan, with whom she shared a remarkable love.

Mel was a faithful member of Greater Macedonia Baptist Church for over 50 years where she sang in the Sanctuary Choir. She attended Riverview Senior Center. There, she enjoyed her favorite pastime, playing and calling Bingo.

She leaves to honor her legacy her husband, Alfred Louis Jordan; son, William Tyler Conner; best friend and lifetime ride-or-die, her devoted sister, Linda Spencer Washington (Juan); uncles, Charles F Spencer (Elaine) and George Spencer (Americus); cousins, nieces, nephews, and grand nephews, who were the loves of her life; god-daughters, Faithe DeVaughn and Lacie Patton. There are too many friends to name - all of whom she loved.
