Obituary for Melvin Cornell Albertie Sr.

Brother Melvin Cornell Albertie, Sr., a native of the Kings Ferry Community, passed away peacefully at Baptist Medical Center-Downtown in Jacksonville, Florida on April 29, 2022, at the age of 65. He was born June 13, 1956 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Clifford Sr. and Blanche Albertie.

Melvin received his early education at the local schools of Nassau County in Callahan, Florida, graduating in 1975 from West Nassau High School, Callahan, Florida. He was employed with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Nassau County Road Department, White Oak Plantation for 20 years and over 10 years with the Nassau County School Board; retiring in June 2021. He was baptized at an early age at the Mt Olive Baptist Church; where he rededicated his life to Christ. Melvin served faithfully as a church member and member of Usher Board #1, serving as a faithful door keeper with his brother, Clifford, until his death

Melvin loved to fish, a hobby his mother and brother, Ray both loved, talking about fishing, being a true country boy, farming & raising hogs and spending time with his family. He was a lovable husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend; he will be missed tremendously by many. He was preceded in death along with his parents, Clifford Albertie, Blanche and Earl Melton; grandparents, Frances and Mary Taylor, Jessie Mae Albertie. and brother, Ray “Shaky Ray” Albertie.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving and devoted family, wife of 43 years, Piccola Hannans Albertie; sons, Melvin Cornell Albertie, Jr. and Matthew (Shaindia) Albertie; daughter, Carla (Tamichael) Albertie; grandchildren, Tamichael Shellman, Jr., Isaiah, Matthew Jr., Jaylan, Nathaniel, Aujene, Melanie, Shayne and Chanse Albertie; brother, Clifford Albertie, Jr.; sisters, Earline (Frankie) Reed, Gladys Smiley, Cheryl (Ben) Cisero, Phyllis Melton, Wendy Melton, and Karen Melton; sisters-in-law, Linda (Monte) Richardson, Toni (Ronald) Argrett, Jessie Hannons, and Lelia Hodges; brother-in-law, Joseph Hannans, Jr.; aunt, Ernestine Taylor; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and sorrowful friends; including special friends, Gary Mason, Otis Mason. and cousin Gloria (Kenny) Hobbs and neighbor, Walter Bennett.
