Michael Ricardo Jones, Sr. was born in Jacksonville, Florida on March 9, 1953 to Ms. Odarl Jones. He confessed Christ at an early age uniting with Zion Hope Baptist Church. He attended Duval County Public Schools and graduated from Jacksonville Technical High School in 1971.

Michael later met and married Andretta Rogers in Jacksonville, Florida on June 16, 1973. From this union was born two sons, Michael Jones, Jr. and Kevin Jones.

Michael served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps from 1971 – 2002. He retired as a Master Gunnery Sergeant. While serving in the military he studied Network Management at Stratford University; Business Administration at Chadwick University; and Networking/IT at Strayer University. Following retirement, he went to work with the Northrop Grumman Corporation from 2004-2014 as an Operations Research Analyst/Data Program Manager.

Michael departed this life on Saturday, August 15, 2020, and was preceded in death by: his mother, Odarl Jones; sister, Vanessa Jones; brothers, Turhan Jones, Sr. and William Murray.

He leaves to mourn his passing: sons, Michael Jones, Jr. and Kevin Jones; granddaughter, Ebony Jones; grandson, Kevin Jones, Jr.; former wife of 44 years, Andretta Jones; sister, Sandra Murray; brother, Neil Jones, Sr.; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; and two devoted friends, Willie Jackson and Robert Jackson, Jr.

The funeral service for Michael Ricardo Jones Sr. will be held 11:00 am Thursday, August 27th, 2020 at the Samuel C. Rogers Jr. Memorial Chapel, 4315 N. Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. The visitation will be 5:00-7:00 pm, Wednesday, August 26th, 2020 at the Funerals by T.S. Warden, 4315 North Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. Interment at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
