Obituary for Michael Solomon Williams

Michael Solomon Williams was born on September 17, 1958, to the late Ceola Ann Williams and Jessie Solomon. Michael was raised on the eastside of Jacksonville, Florida and he graduated from Old Stanton High School, Class of 1977. Shortly after high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps and later became a member of the International Longshoreman Association Local #1408. Michael A.K.A “Coach Mike” and “Big Mike” was a well-known, fun and loving person that loved kids and sports. In 1988, he took the love for kids and sports and became a well-loved Coach for Lee Bulls, alongside David Jones, Broderick Brown, Rick Williams, and Gary. Coach Mike played a big role in a lot of kids’ lives on and off the courts and fields.

Michael was a devoted Father, Brother, Mentor, and Friend to many. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hanging with old classmates, friends and watching sports. Michael was called to eternal rest on Friday, December 4, 2020. He will be missed by all who knew him; siblings, Roosevelt Williams and Tyrone Williams, preceded him in death.

Michael leaves to cherish his memory, children: Ebony “Juice” Wright (Antonio), Michael Stallings, Michael Thomas (Kyawnka), Quiounia Williams, and Shecolbie Lewis (Demetrus); bonus children, Tyy’Shell Mack, Carolynn Thomas, and Joel Edwards; grandchildren, Joseph Parker, Ja’Quira Parker, Yazmin Wright, Antonio Wright Jr., Ira Lundy, Mileshia Thomas, Mya Thomas, Michael Thomas Jr., Lasheka Graham, Deleon Spivey, Daniya Spivey, Jayla Jordan, Justice Jordan, Carrie Hill, Shacara Powe, Terise Powe, Jarmarius Phillips, Jamyra Thomas and Donte Mcgee; great-grandchildren, Armoni Nelson, Ar’bre Nelson, Myla Young and Rolin Parker; siblings, Annette Williams, Andrew Williams, Johnnie Williams (Delores), and Tony Williams; long time love, Be’Etrice Thomas; aunts, Queen Alexander, Louise Taylor, and Elouise Whitty; close nephews, Johnny Robinson, Ronnie Williams, and Tony Williams Jr.; special friends, Ben Bush and Nathan Lloyd; a host of beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

The funeral service for Michael Solomon Williams will be held 11AM, Friday, December 11th, 2020 at the Unity Missionary Baptist Church 281 East 44th Street.
