Mrs. Mildred Dawson was born in Sanford, Florida on Saturday, January 22, 1949 to parents, Pyra Lee Woolbright and Jimmy Dawson. At a young age, she moved to Albany, Georgia where she was raised by her Grandparents, Cicero and Annie Bell Woolbright. She grew up with Grace (Beauty Mae), Lucy (Sug), James (Smokey), and Earlene spending much of her youth in Albany and attending school.
Later in life Mildred moved to Jacksonville, Florida where she graduated from Stanton Vocational. After earning a certificate as an Executive Secretary, Mildred spent several loyal years of service as a Midwife Supervisor at Shands Hospital.
The biggest joy in her life was raising her daughter, Ashley along with a kind-hearted companion and dedicated Father, James Joiner. Known as ‘Aunti Mick’, she was passionate about her Family/Friends and helped in the rearing of many especially her Nephew, Cameron Jones.
On Sunday, May 9, 2021, Mildred passed on to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her Parents and beloved Uncle, Wilma Woolbright.
She leaves to mourn her passing: Caring Daughters: Ashley Dawson (Granddaughter on the way Ala’Jah) and Larhonda Golden (Granddaughters Kenmeisha Brown, Kenya Brown, and Kenzariha Burch); Loyal Brothers, Willie Rodall (Valerie) and Tommie Rodall; Dear Sisters, Lucy Jones (Napoleon), Earlene Hill, and Lizabeth Green; Close Cousins, Grace Stevens, Mary Anderson, James Jackson (Dora Bell), Mack Green (Tameka) and Jerome Green; Special Nieces and Nephews, Derrick Jones (Andrena), Rhonda Jones, Melanie Kilpatrick (Gregory), Octavious Green, Curtis Green (Felicia) and Cameron Jones; Dear Friend, Thomas Lynch; and a host of other Cousins, Nieces, Relatives, and Friends!
The funeral service for Mildred Dawson will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 15th, 2021 at the Springhill Missionary Baptist Church, 11046 Harts Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218. The visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Friday, May 14th, 2021 at the Funerals by T.S. Warden, 4315 North Main Street, Jacksonville, FL 32206. Interment in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.
