Obituary for Nancy Loretta Lester

Nancy Loretta Lester
Mrs. Nancy Loretta Purifoy Lester was born on October 1, 1937 to Mr. L.C. Purifoy and Mrs. Sue Etta Jackson in Marion Junction Alabama. On Wednesday, July 18, 2018, God dispatched an angel to escort his servant home.

Nancy was educated in the Putnam County Public Schools and after completion, she relocated to Jacksonville Florida. Shortly after, she met and married Fred Lester. To this union, two children were born.

She was a devoted Christian who recently confirmed her faith by accepting salvation of the Lord and being baptized in His name. She held numerous positions serving the local community; the food service industry, domestic help, and in-home health care being her niches. She had a deep passion for cooking and enjoyed gardening.

Nancy was preceded in death by her mother and father; siblings, L.C. Purifoy, Jr., K.C. Purifoy, James Purifoy, Jean Darr, Collie Purifoy, Essie Lee Purifoy, and Emma Purifoy; and granddaughter, Temeka Brown. She leaves to cherish memories: her husband, Fred Lester; a loving son, Gregg Lester (Karen); a loving daughter, Belinda Garmany; caring brother, Earnest Purifoy (Theodosia); granddaughters, Sinadia Gailyard, Ashley Lester, Shauna Gailyard, and Shanice Lester; grandsons, Gregg Lester, Jr., Sidney Gailyard, Andre Akoni (Timesha), and Dallas Garmany; great grandsons, Markahl Royal and Bryan Turner, Jr.; great granddaughters, Ashanti Watson, Zariah Gailyard, and Austyn Gailyard; and a host of nieces and nephews and close friends.

The funeral service for Nancy Loretta Lester will be held 11AM, Saturday, July 28th, 2018 at the Historic Mt. Zion A.M. E. Church 201 E. Beaver Street. The visitation will be 5 - 7PM, Friday, at the mortuary. Interment private. Please sign the family guest book. Arrangements in care of Tyrone S. Warden, FDIC, 4315 N. Main Street, 765-1234
