Obituary for Nathaniel Hicks
Nathaniel was born in Jacksonville, Florida on February 12, 1948 to James and Vera Hicks whom preceded him in death.
Nathaniel confessed Christ at an early age uniting with First Baptist Church of Oakland. He attended school here in Jacksonville, Florida where he graduated from Matthew W. Gilbert class of 1968.
Nathaniel worked for ILA Local 1408 Longshoremen for many years until he retired. His hobby was cooking on a grill where he enjoyed feeding people. He was known for his kind spirit and love for people. Nathaniel was well known by many, where every person could tell stories or memories about how he touched their lives.
Nathaniel leaves to cherish his memories his son, Nathaniel Williams (Mira); two grandsons, Nate and MaKai Williams; two granddaughters, Leilah Williams and Aiyana Beard; sister, Gwendolyn Brown; niece, Marvyne Fleming, Norma Chambers (Alex) and Jantrice James; nephew, Norman Hicks Jr. (Abigail) and Michael Hicks (Kimberly); grand nephews, Dalrick Fleming Sr. (Josie), Donald “Donny” Fleming Jr., Leondry Gross, Alexander Gross, Cedric Chambers, Dalrick Jr., Donte Fleming, David Watkins, Demonte Stallings and Desmond Hicks; grand niece, Zaria Fleming, Blake Fleming, Diamond Hicks, Kimiyah Hicks, Ryan Stallings and Honesty Fleming and a host of other relatives and friends who have been affected by his loss.
The funeral service for Nathaniel Hicks will be held 11AM, Friday, September 27th, 2019 at Samuel C. Rogers Jr. Chapel, 4315 N. Main Street, Jacksonville, FL 32206. The visitation will be 4:00 - 6:00PM, Thursday, September 26th, 2019 at the Funerals By T. S. Warden 4315 North Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. Interment in Restlawn Cemeteries.
