Ola Mae  Barney
Ola Mae Barney was born on November 9, 1927 to Minnie Gardner and Charlie Dawson in Sylvester, Georgia. She attended the local schools in Worth County, furthering her education at Albany State University and Florida State College of Jacksonville, Florida. Ola loved the Lord, her grandfather was a Primitive Baptist minister where she was raised in the Primitive Baptist Church.

Ola Mae met and married Thomas Barney Jr. in Sylvester, Georgia from this union one son and six daughters were born.

Ola Mae departed this life on Sunday, August 13, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Barney Jr.

Ola Mae leaves to mourn her passing: seven children, Kathy A. Thomas of Jacksonville, Florida, Mary B. Kirkland of Jacksonville, Florida, Rowena Colston (Ronald) of Tallahassee, Florida, Carol Davis (Eddie) of Jacksonville, Florida, Stanley Barney Sr. (Tina) of Charleston, South Carolina, Angalyn Conner (Luster) of Batesville, Mississippi and Benita Terry (Bernard) Jacksonville, Florida; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; three brothers, late Frank White Jr. (Annette) of Atlanta, Georgia, Charlie Dawson (Patricia) of Tampa, Florida, Freddie Battles (Barbara) of Decatur, Georgia and Thomas Tucker of Clearwater Florida; seven sisters, Christine Ellis of Atlanta Georgia, Catherine Marshall (David) of Houston, Texas, Carolyn Dawson of Clearwater, Florida, Verna Dawson of Clearwater, Florida and Helen Dawson of Clearwater, Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and a special friend, Eugene Griffin.

The funeral service for Ola Mae Barney will be held 11:00 am Friday, August 18th, 2017 at the Northside Church of Christ 4736 Avenue B. JACKSONVILLE, FL 32209. The visitation will be 5 - 7PM , Thursday, August 17th, 2017 at the mortuary. Interment in Restlawn Cemeteries. Please sign the family guest book @ www.tswarden.com. Arrangements in care of Tyrone S.
