I, Ola Mae Smith Fields, daughter of the late Will Smith and Willie Bell Jackson, was called from labor to reward on March 22, 2020. I was born on June 3, 1930 in Doerun, Georgia. The highlight of my life was becoming a faithful member of the Lord’s Church, at the Northside Church of Christ, under the Leadership of Minister Charlie McClendon. My greatest accomplishment was my union to my husband, the late Mr. Wilbert Fields, and the birth of our children. For my career journey, I was committed and dedicated to improving Duval County Public Schools with 35 years of service. As I depart my earthly home, I request that my family and friends continue my legacy of serving the Lord, loving family unconditionally, working endlessly, and expressing a humble spirit. MAY THE WORK I’VE DONE SPEAK FOR ME!

I was preceded in death by my grandparents, Harry and Maggie Jackson; parents, Will Smith and Willie Bell Jackson; sister, Louise Session; brother, James Smith; children, Curtis Williams Sr., Cynthia Harris Eady (Robert); sons-in-law, Johnny Griffin and Alonzo Johnson Sr.; grandchildren, Curtis Williams Jr. and Reginald Williams (Tasha); and great granddaughter, Shamika Williams.

To God be the Glory, I leave to cherish my memories and to watch over my children, my beautiful sister, Ms. Elmira Singleton. I leave my legacy to continue through my children; Catherine Griffin Bolden (Joe), Irizola Yvonne Moore (Joe), Linda Williams, Vivian Johnson, Margaret Williams, Willena Williams, and Ronnie Fields (Janice); and a host of family and friends.
