Lena Thompson was the Lead Pastor of Life Point Church and was called to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ at the age of 15.

Pastor Thompson had a very diverse corporate path that ultimately led to full-time pastoral ministry. She was employed by the United States Department of Treasury, The Securities Exchange Commission, The Federal Reserve Bank, CEO of an Accounting Firm, and Director of Financial Aid of a post-secondary educational institution. At the time of her passing she was employed as Assistant to the Director of Finance in the Finance Department of a non-profit organization.

She graduated from Florida State University, with a BS in Accounting. Pastor Thompson completed graduate courses in accounting at the University of North Florida. Pastor Thompson had future goals of obtaining a second Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and completing the MDiv and DMin curriculum at Fuller Theological Seminary.

Pastor Thompson previously served as the Pastor of Administration at the Sanctuary at Mt. Calvary under the leadership of her pastor, Dr. John Allen Newman. She was the first female licensed and ordained in the 113 year history of the church. Pastor Thompson thrived on helping people reach their full potential in Christ and taking the limits off of their lives. She taught and preached, with passion, Bible-based messages that were easily understood, connecting your life with the Word of God.

Pastor Thompson had the privilege of preaching for BET, The Progressive Baptist Convention, the U. S. Navy, Lecturer for Rev. Jessie Jackson, and many other platforms that God provided.

Pastor Thompson was predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Lena Mae Thompson and biological parents, Bently and Elizabeth Porter. She leaves to cherish loving memories: her daughter, Rachel Gomez; grandson, Dallas Walker; god-daughter and caregiver, Jessica Tobler; brothers, Nathaniel Porter (Michelle), George Porter, and Bentl Porter, Jr.; sisters, Beatrice Porter and Rebecca Porter; longtime friend, Sharon Wright; Life Point Church; and other relatives and friends.
