Obituary for Patricia Ann Brooks

Patricia Ann Brooks was born in Jacksonville, FL on Saturday, June 12, 1954, the daughter of Johnnie Mae Brooks and Tommie Lee Brooks. She was a graduate of Andrew Jackson Senior High School, the Class of 1974. After graduation, she attended Florida Community College at Jacksonville and focused her studies in the area of Early Learning Education.

Patricia was employed for 17 years in childcare services as a Lead Teacher with Children Services. She was employed for 25 years with the City of Jacksonville, working for The Jacksonville Children’s Commission before retiring in 2012.

Patricia was a former member of New Mount Zion Baptist Church. She loved to sing and dance. In her spare time, she enjoyed helping others and spending time with family.

Patricia departed this life on Sunday, January 19, 2020, and was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sisters, Natalia Brooks and Sandra Brooks; brothers, Anthony Brooks and Gary Brooks; nieces, Tamika Brooks (Dewight Charles), Mateshia Pearson (Ronald Pearson), and Takenia Brooks; nephews, Tony Jenkins Sr. (LaTosha Pollard), Tarrance Brooks, and T’angelo Brooks; brothers-in-law, King Hartley, Otis Felton, and Lephus Felton; godson, Chaussee Gibson (Shontay Gibson); goddaughter, Carolyn Stiggons; work daughter, Charnetta Dawson; first grand niece, Chassidi Jenkins; first grand nephew, Tony Jenkins Jr.; extended niece and nephew, Cedric Buxton and Tasha Hall; devoted aunties, Anita Dopson (Charlie Dopson) and Mattie Thomas (Bill Thomas); devoted cousins, Thomas and Curtis Crocker, Marshall Johnson (Dennis Johnson), and the Edwards Family; and a host of grandnieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives and friends.

The funeral service for Patricia Ann Brooks will be held 11AM, Saturday, February 1st, 2020 at the Samuel C. Rogers Jr. Memorial Chapel 4315 N. Main Street. The visitation will be 5 - 7PM, Friday, at the mortuary. Interment in Restlawn Cemeteries South. Please sign the family guest book and view the video tribute @ Arrangements in care of Tyrone S. My thoughts and prayers are with the loved ones of Patricia Brooks. My comfort comes in knowing that Jesus died so that we could live. For now Patricia is peacefully sleeping until she hears and awakes to Jesus' voice and lives again. (John 5:28-29) You, too, can be comforted by this hope.
