Obituary for Pearl Louvenia Harrell (Smiley)

Pearl Louvenia Harrell transitioned to be with our heavenly father on February 26, 2021. Pearl, affectionally known as “Mother”, “Momma” “Granny “and “LV” was born on January 30, 1927 to James and Hattie Smiley in Liberty County Georgia. Pearl was proceeded in death by her devoted parents, and seven (7) loving siblings, James Smiley Jr., Marie Nabritt, Evelyna James, Sadie Smiley, Janie Esau, Hattie King, and Ruth Carter.

Pearl Louvenia was educated in the school systems in Liberty County Georgia. After her schooling, Pearl relocated to Jacksonville, FL where she met the love of her life, William Herman Harrell. They solidified their love in holy matrimony on September 8, 1946. Pearl had seven (7) children, Bernard, Clyde (predeceased), Maurice (predeceased), Patricia, Brenda, Michael (predeceased) and Bruce.

Following the death of her beloved William, Pearl dedicated her life to the care of her children and mother-in-law Thelma Dixon until her death. Pearl loved God and was a devoted member of Mt. Ararat Missionary Baptist Church for well over 30 years, where she served as a member in the choir until her health prohibited her from doing so. Pearl shared her love for the Lord with everyone, and started and ended everyday reading her bible.

Pearl’s infinity for helping others showed in her care of not only her family, but also in the families she serviced as a domestic employee. Pearl cared for the Hernandez family for many years, and was not seen as a domestic employee, but as genuine member of the Hernandez family. Pearl, Mother, Momma Granny, LV will forever be remembered for her love of God, always imparting wisdom to all, her infectious smile and her mantra of LOVE. More than anything, Pearl always wanted family and friends to LOVE more.

Pearl Louvenia, Mother, Granny, LV leaves to cherish beautiful, loving memories with her children, Bernard (Lorraine), Patricia, Brenda, and Bruce. Twenty grandchildren, twenty great grands, four (4) great-great grands, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, godson Ron West and goddaughter Ruth McNair.
