Phyllis Maria Murphy was born on November 8, 1957 to Sam and Gracie Myers. She confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at First Timothy Baptist Church and later joined Bethesda Faith Assembly, Inc. She attended schools in Jacksonville, Florida and received her education at Jean Ribault Senior High School.
Phyllis married Leroy V. Murphy on July 29, 1976 in Jacksonville, Florida. From this union sons, Rashad Murphy, Farrad Murphy, and Winston Murphy; and daughter, Jameelah Murphy were born.
Phyllis departed this life on Tuesday, February 23, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Joerod Adams; brothers, William Myers, Winston Myers, and Kendrick Myers.
Phyllis leaves cherished memories with her husband, Leroy Murphy; children, Rashad Murphy, Farrad Murphy (Rosalyn), Winston Murphy, David Murphy, Jameelah Murphy, and Latara Carter; brothers, Freddy Myers and William (Billie) Myers (Sharon); sisters, Elouise Kennard and Rosa (Tiny) Johston (John); grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
