Obituary for Preston "GRAVEDIGGER" Smith

Preston “Gravedigger” Smith, Jr., was born on June 19, 1950 to the late Preston Smith, Sr. and Ermell Smith in Jacksonville, Florida. He received his education in the Duval County School System.

Preston was a well known truck driver, where he drove in the local and long distance area for many years. He was also known for his mechanical work, building barbecue grills and cooking barbecue with his special sauce. Preston was most favorite for his entertaining as well as when he was cooking you would get great conversation, advice, wisdom, and a smile to brighten up your day. Preston departed this life on Saturday, August 22, 2015.

Preston leaves to cherish his loving memories a beloved and devoted companion, Barbara Warren of Orange Park, Florida; a son, Brian K. Smith of Jacksonville, Florida; grandson, Qiuan Smith; step brother; Larry Crittenden both of Jacksonville, Florida; stepsons, Danny Williams (Lisa) of Orange Park, Florida, Richard Williams of Arkansas; daughters, Cynthia Johnson (Edgar) of Orange Park, Florida, Adrian Williams of Jacksonville, Florida; nine extended grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a host of cousins and many sorrowing friends. Special friends known as his brother and sister, Ernest (Big E) and Shelia Harris of Pompano, Florida.

The funeral service for Preston Smith GRAVEDIGGER will be held 11:00 am Saturday, August 29th, 2015 at the Samuel C. Rogers Jr. Memorial Chapel 4315 N. Main Street JACKSONVILLE, FL 32206. The visitation will be 5:00 pm 7:00 pm , Friday, August 28th, 2015 at the Funerals By T. S. Warden 4315 North Main Street Jacksovnille, FL 32206. Interment is private .
