Quinnie Mae Merritt was born on December 26, 1933 to Mack Humphrey and Jonie Gallaway Humphrey in Newville, Alabama. Quinnie was a member of New Life Fellowship.

Quinnie departed this life November 5, 2019. She was preceded in death by her son, Clifton E. Merritt; brothers, Roosevelt Humphrey and Johnnie Mack Humphrey.

Quinnie leaves to cherish her memories: sons, James Merritt, Daniel Merritt and Daron Merritt; daughters, Francella Brooks, Sharon Mitchell (Ralph Brown), Jonie Vernon (Victor Bradley) and Vivian Newman; grandchildren, LaShunda Lazenberry, Gregory Mitchell, Artisha Mitchell, Terrivio Merritt, Darrell Lee, Jamie Merritt and Clifford Merritt; ; six great-grandchildren; sister/cousin, Gwendolyn Allan; niece, Lavelda Johnson; nephew, Derek Johnson, Anthony McClain and Erik Humphrey; special friends, Mary Lewis, Emma Rodgers, Marion Redman, Gwen Jones, Ms. Liz, Ms. Mary Mazek and Hilion Harding; a host of other relatives and friends.
