Rosa L. Spear affectionately known to her family and friends as “Rose” was born on January 6, 1944 to Willie Lee Robinson and Willie Mae Robinson in Wrightsville, Georgia. Rose, was educated in the Washington County School System. She later relocated to Jacksonville, Florida where she was united in holy matrimony to the late Mr. Luke Spear.
Rose, accepted the Lord as her savior and her life was centered in the church at an early age. She was a member of Greater New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully under the leadership of Dr. Levi White. Rose had a passion for singing and often travel with the “Little Rose and the Chosen Three.” To her family and friends she was well known for her cooking as well as a fashionista. She exemplified extraordinary love for her family as she was a loving caregiver to those in need.
Into each life some rain must fall. The rain fell on Thursday, October 1, 2020, when our dearly beloved Rose departed this life. She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie Lee Robinson and Willie Mae Robinson; granddaughter Shawnna Smith; siblings, Arlene Robinson, Elgin (Gent) Robinson, Allene Williams, Freddie Robinson, Willie L. Robinson and Johnny B. Robinson.
Rose, leaves to cherish her love and memories; a loving daughter, Cathy Studemire (Charles); grandchildren, Valencia Harris (Gerard), Tony Robinson (Jeanette); great-grandchildren, Shekiah Robinson, Amaya Robinson, Tony Robinson Jr., Yazmine Robinson, Kennedy Robinson, Makayla Duncan; great great-grandchildren, Juan Cruz IV, Amethyst Cruz; brothers, Frank Robinson (Edith), James Robinson, Gene Robinson (Bernita) and Danny Robinson; and a adopted daughter, Ebonique Poole; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and many sorrowing friends.
The funeral service for Rosa Lee Spear will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, October 10th, 2020 at the Greater New Birth Missionary Baptist Church 195 Tallualah Avenue Jacksonville, Florida 32208. The visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 pm, Friday, October 9th, 2020 at the Funerals by T.S. Warden 4315 North Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. Interment in Restlawn Cemeteries.
