Obituary for Rosa Lee Whitfield (Wilkerson)

Rosa Lee Wilkerson-Whitfield, affectionately called "Roe" and "Auntie Rose", was born on December 26, 1940, the oldest child of Rev. David and Albertha Wilkerson.  She was married to Lamont Whitfield, however, this marriage ended in divorce. She had one son, Dexter Tyrone, who proceeded her in death as an infant. Rosa confessed Jesus at an early age at her father's church, St Paul Tabernacle Baptist Church. At the time of her passing, she was a member of Grace Baptist Church of East Springfield.

Rosa attended Matthew W. Gilbert High School, graduating in the class of 1958. She also attended Edward Waters College.  While at Gilbert, she was a member of the Marching Band and played the French Horn.  She also enjoyed reading, crocheting and traveling. Additionally, she had a beautiful handwriting. During her career, she was employed at Duval Laundry and St. Vincent's Medical Center. Rosa was a member of the Moncrief Senior Center and the College Circle Garden Club. She had a sweet personality and showed love to everyone she met.

Rosa departed this life on October 31, 2022 at the Life Care Center of Orange Park. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, and siblings; Leon Wilkerson, Zelena Crawford and Barbara Sims. 

Rosa leaves to mourn her passing: Loving siblings, Deloris (Ron) Sims, Leola (Lafayette) Williams, Minister Nolan Wilkerson, Mary Preston, Shirley Wilkerson, and Dr. Diane Hanna; she also leaves numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and sorrowing friends.
