At Romans 15:4 it says that all the things that were written (the scriptures) were written for our instruction so that through our endurance and through the comfort from the Scriptures we might have hope. God want us to know that death was not a part of his original purpose for humans. Death came through one man (Adam). So too, we have God's assurance that a resurrection of the dead will also come through one man (Jesus) who gave his life in behalf of all mankind ... John 3:16; 1 Corinthians 15:21, 22. Resurrection is a certainty! I pray that you find comfort in this sure promise to see your loved one again in a new world filled with peace and there will be no more sickness or dying ... Isaiah 33:24; Revelations 21:3, 4; Psalms 37:9, 10, 29.
