Rose Marie Massey was born in Boston, GA on May 9, 1933, to Samuel Charles and Katie Lee Thompson, soon after her birth they moved to Jacksonville, FL. She confessed Christ at an early age uniting with First Baptist Church of Oakland where she was baptized and later became a member of St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church. She attended schools in the Duval County Public School System and received her high school diploma from Stanton High School and her Bachelors degree from Edward Waters College.

Rose later met and married the love of her life, Howard Massey.

She departed this life on Thursday, May 26, 2022 and was preceded in death by: husband, Howard Massey; father, Samuel Thompson Sr.; mother, Katie Thompson; brother, Samuel Thompson Jr.; and sisters, Mattie Cochran, Erma Thompson, and Patricia Graham.

Rose leaves to mourn her passing: sons, Ellis Thompson and Curtis Hutchinas; grandchildren, Tonya Dukes, Tia Allen, Talya Thompson, Anntoniette Hutchinas-Roberts, Curtis Hutchinas III, Ariel McAllister; brother, Terry Thompson; brother-in-law, Charles Thompson Jr.; nieces, Andrea Norman, Adrian Thompson, Tracy Graham, and Monique Hall; niece & goddaughter, Kayla Roberts; nephews, Marv Thompson, Lawrence Graham, and Charles Thompson III; and a host of other relatives and friends.
